Boom operator and mixer, Igor Marlot is a Sound recordist based in Geneva, Switzerland. He specializes in location sound for film, VR and TV and has gained valuable experience working in various locations around the world. He is passionate about immersive sound and has studied binaural, ambisonics and double MS mic techniques.
Bjorn Cornelius
Sound recordist
He is a sound engineer (recordist and mixer) since 2010. He trained as an engineer at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in Geneva (2002-04).
He is known for his collaboration on the films SILKE (2023) by Coline Confort, COLOMBINE (2022) by Dominique Othenin-Girard.
This intensive course is supported by the Federal Office of Culture (OFC) / MEDIA Desk Switzerland.

30% allocated to the field shooting.

Collaborative VR Filmmaking for Environmental Awareness

In this intensive course, we collaborate with the Swiss Green Alps Foundation to create a powerful VR film focused on environmental awareness. Participants of the 360° 8k cinematography intensive course will work closely with the foundation, incorporating their expertise and support into the project. Together, we aim to inspire action through immersive storytelling.
Certification

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive an official certification endorsed by the President of F3RUM and expert trainers. This certification holds recognition from leading industry players in hardware and software.

Step 1: Understanding the Possibilities of Ambisonic audio
- Dive into the functioning of virtual reality and explore its vast potential.
- Learn about the essential tools used in VR filmmaking, with a focus on Ambisonic sound.
Step 2: Sound Recording Preparation
- Select the appropriate equipment for capturing immersive Ambisonic sound.
- Prepare the equipment for optimal performance.
- Establish a post-production roadmap for seamless integration of Ambisonic sound.
Step 3: Expedition in Nature
- Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Crans-Montana's alpine surroundings.
- Receive guidance and support from our experienced teams during field recording.
- Collaborate with the 360° 8k cinematography intensive course to create a VR film.
- Conduct interviews with members of the association, addressing environmental preservation topics.
Step 4: Finalizing the Film
- Process the recorded Ambisonic sound, organizing and optimizing the sound captures.
- Create an immersive sound experience by integrating Ambisonic sound with visuals.
- Synchronize sound and image for a truly immersive VR film.
- Export the final film, considering the intended platforms and distribution media.
Step 5: Theory, Post-Production, and Networking
- Delve into the theoretical aspects of Ambisonic sound in VR filmmaking.
- Explore post-production techniques to enhance the quality and immersive nature of the sound.
- Network with fellow participants, industry professionals, and experts during dedicated networking events.
Throughout the program, you will engage in approximately 30% theory-based sessions, 30% post-production activities, and 30% immersive field shooting experiences. Additionally, 10% of the program is dedicated to networking and connecting with like-minded individuals.
By the end of this comprehensive program, you will have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to create captivating VR films that not only entertain but also raise awareness about important social and environmental issues.
